Artist's Comments

I think this is the first photograph I am submitting that has an actual person in it :wow:

Also taken at the Sa'ad Abad Palace Complex in Tehran, Iran. We were walking up the stairs to the museum portion when one of my many cousins paused to look at the window. I never imagined it would look so... interesting =D

Just a little side information: :faq:
In accordance with the Iranian dress code, when outside the home women must cover their hair with a scarf (roosari) and where an overcoat (monteau) that reaches to at least mid-thigh as well as to their wrists. It gets rather bothersome in the summertime, but other than that I didn't really have any strong feelings toward it.

If you want to see some examples of modern Iranian dress following this: [link] I bet it won't be what you were expecting.

In fact, whatever stereotypes you have concerning how women dress in the Middle East, or more specifically in Iran, I could probably dispel them rather quickly if you'd like. Furthermore, if anyone is really interested in the history, rules and attitudes of Iranian Islamic dress I could always post a chapter from my "Culture Shock!: Iran" book which has a very nice section on this topic. :reading:

Ok... that's a little more than I usually say :blahblah: Let me know what you think!

What I long for, you know would kill me
What I think will kill me, you know will heal me
Loving you, I enter a darkness where I can't see anything
"You do not need to; I am guiding you by the hand"

Very ineresting with such bright colours inside, yet muted on the outside. Definitely a photo worthy of pondering!

Ponder away! :D The haziness of the glass compared to the clarity of the woman is my favorite part of this photograph.
